As we all know, men tend to have a strange frenzy when it comes to tech gadgets, and with the massive explosion of the smart phone phenomena, we’re witnessing many companies taking advantage.
Sony is certainly one of those companies; incorporating one of the classic accents that many men have enjoyed wearing for ages, launching their Sony SmartWatch ( Link) this Wednesday finally in the U.S for just $149. What’s a SmartWatch you ask? Well, it’s a normal watch; tells the time but from a 1.3-inch OLED display, that also has the capability of displaying the user’s emails, text messages and even controls music if you please.

It connects to any Bluetooth-enabled Android 2.1-based (and above) device, but of course requires an app on your device to be installed.
The only down side to this watch is that it only runs on Android,so if your guy’s an avid iOS user, or likes to switch phones a lot ( like many men, let’s face it!) there’s another SmartWatch called InPulse Pebble (Link) that runs on both operating systems, priced the same as Sony, leaving the latter to fall back for this mere fact.
However, there are more differences between the two; The Sony watch has a snazzy touch display, but the functional e-paper watch face of the Pebble is viewable in direct sunlight. The battery life of the Pebble claims to last for seven or more days, while a CNET review of the Sony device puts its longevity at two days, max. To make matters worse for Sony, the Pebble has reached $2 million in funding. if that weren’t enough, InPulse, the company that makes the Pebble, only ever asked for $100,000 over the course of the entire project.
So, if you’re short on ideas and in need of a sparkly present, a SmartWatch would be an ideal option, even though we believe a Cartier watch never goes out of fashion.
