PlayStation 4 announced by Sony!

PlayStation4

New York: The next generation gaming system has finally been unveiled by Sony; the PlayStation 4. It’s been 7 years since Sony Corp.’s first major game console release; yes we also cannot believe the PlayStation 3 went on sale in 2006.

The new controller resonates of its predecessor yet is undeniably enhanced in a brilliant way; powered by the X86 CPU, an amplified PC GPU and 8GB unified memory. No, it does not stop there; a new controller is featured called the Dual Shock 4, which has a front touchpad and sensor bar. The sensor bar communicated with a motion-sensing camera so as to identify players and utilize motion control.

Sadly, Sony did not explicitly say how much this new console would cost, the company did actually state that it’s predicted to be launched by “Holiday 2013”.

The lead system architect on the PlayStation 4, Mark Cerny, elucidated the new platform’s graphical capabilities saying: “supercharged PC architecture” and an “exponential improvement on its predecessors.”

Other perks of the PS4 include the ability to power itself down into a low power condition so as to preserve game progress. Don’t worry about the downloads you’re running in the background for a secondary chip will take care of those, allowing you to start playing games even before they’ve finished downloading.

With the new interface, you’ll be able to make videos as well as watch what your friends are playing in real time streamed video with the ability to send them messages or even take over control of their game to help them out (or not). Cerny stated that such features will also be available on associate applications for smartphones, tablets and PlayStation Vita.

We’re sold, are you?
