Kindle Fire burns the competition
Oct 31st

Amazon raised the curtains off their new version of Amazon Kindle, Kindle Fire. With a colored screen, the ability to view videos, play music, and to download apps, it bolted out of the e-book reader market into the tablet market and it fired up competition with its flashy price of $199! Less than half the price of what the iPad2 sells for. And that’s not all, the device itself has all the perks: A Dual Core Processor, 7″ touch screen, high resolution, 16 million colors, 8GB of internal storage, WiFi, and an 8-hour battery life. Plus it comes with unlimited Amazon Cloud content storage and USB port.
Even though iPad2 is faster, comes with a built camera, has 500,000 apps, and a bigger storage, this tablet will have a promising market share, frankly because it doesn’t put a big dent in the pocket and offers. No one is speculating to take over Apple’s market share, but it is for users who want portability at a reasonable price.

Battlefield3 for PCs yes! for consoles… better luck next time
Oct 27th
![]()

EA couldn’t have chosen a better time to release Battlefield 3. What an attractive game! The visual details are so stunning and realistic. EA wanted to get into the first person shooter market ever since Activision dominated the market with its Call of Duty franchise. Enough with the small talk, let’s talk about the game:
If you are the “love at first sight” type, you might want to hold off on starting the single player campaign, as it seems more like an interactive demo than a game. The story plot is the usual “terrorists – explosion chemistry” going on there. But as a multiplayer shooter freak, it has it all. With up to 64 players that can play in huge maps, it’s got to be one of the biggest and most hectic multiplayer experience a first person shooter can ever imagine. Plus it comes in 3 modes: Deathmatch mode, Conquest mode and Rush mode.
Battlefield 3’s major pitfall is that the console version is a letdown compared to the PC version. The graphics are missing that “wow factor” and the battles are smaller, making the experience sort of a miniature or a shadow of what is offered on computers. I found the whole game on the Xbox 360, disappointing, feeling sterile, and looking almost dreadful. I was hoping that the Frostbite engine could at least make a game that’s visually impressive compared to other console titles like Crysis 2, but battlefield3 on consoles shows a different story.
Battlefield 3 is available now. The MSRP is: $59.99

What is Apple TV?
Oct 26th
![]()
Apple TV is a TV set currently being developed by Apple, it is different from the $99 console Apple currently has. According to Sources, Jeff Robbin, who contributed to iTunes and the iPod is currently leading the Apple TV project. The TV set could be ready for launch next year or early 2013.
A TV set from Apple sounds like a very cool idea. Picture a TV that has wireless internet, can access Netflix, Hulu, Youtube and of course has Safari so you can browse internet, has a touch screen remote control which can also be used as a mic, contains a very large SD drive so you can download your favorite series.
That sounds good and all, but for the Apple TV to actually sell it has to be able to get connected to cable, satellite, an HDMI slot so you can connect your gaming consoles, so basically it has to also be a normal TV as well as being a huge internet screen, because lets face it nobody is gonna have 2 TV sets hanging in their living rooms. If Apple can pull that off while having an attractive price tag (something around $899 would be perfect for a 32-inch screen and $1,199 for the 40-inch screen) they can really invade homes.
The TV would probably be connected by a cloud-based system that would allow users to access and search for content obtained through Apple and third-party services such as Netflix.
Rumors are that a TV set is in the workings right now at Apple although no comment from the technology giant has been released. We’ll just have to wait and see what’s to come.

iPhone 4s… Do I want it?
Oct 25th
![]()
Yes… The iPhone 4s has become somewhat of an iconic phone in the smartphone world. One might argue that some of the competing Android phones simply look better than the iPhone on paper. However, specs are not everything. The iPhone’s usability and easy to use operating system, iOS5 ,just makes it so easy to fall in love with the phone. On top of that the phone looks the part, the stylish glass and metal combination gives the phone a very cool look that looks better than any other smartphone in the market.
Siri. The intelligent virtual assistant is also a very cool feature that apple has included in the iPhone4s, the technology incorporated into Siri makes it different than other voice command pieces of software currently on phones. Siri not only can understand commands better but it also progressively learns and gets used to your voice.

Camera. The camera on the iPhone 4s has been optimized and offers better camera specs than any of the previous iPhones. While some of the Android camera’s might score better an camera picture and video quality than the iPhone 4s, the camera still performs better than its predecessors. And if the camera is not that important to you then it shouldn’t affect your decision.
Processor. Faster is better, the A5 chip in the iPhone 4s is the same chip in the iPad 2 and it boosts the performance of the phone making it faster and much more powerful.
Phone Antenna. The iPhone 4s has a newly designed sensor that eliminates the “grip of death” problem that the iPhone 4 had where the phone loses signal and drops calls when held in a certain way.
Pricing. as for pricing and availability. Well, the iPhone 4S is selling for $200, $300, and $400 for the 16GB, 32GB, and 64GB versions, respectively. The iPhone 4 is still around, with an 8GB version selling for $100.

Iris Vs. Siri
Oct 18th
![]()

IRIS or “Intelligent Rival Imitator of Siri” is a project developed in 8 hours to challenge the iPhone 4S’s virtual assistant Siri. Created to run on the android and blackberry devices this project lacks the deep integration with the phone that Siri has. However it does has many of the same characteristics and responsiveness, enough to make us think that there will be something very similar to Siri on Android phones pretty soon.
