How can we keep up in this fast-paced world?
In today’s fast paced world, data is becoming integrated into our lives more and more. Conventional backup utilities need constant user attention and scheduling to ensure that your rapidly growing and changing data is protected; with that attention comes the hassle and knockbacks of creating up-to-date and continuous backups.

Genie Timeline introduces a new generation of backup utilities based on Continuous Data Protection, your data is automatically and constantly monitored for additions and changes. Set it and forget it, backups are taken periodically without any hassle or pop ups and will have absolutely no impact on system performance.

Genie Timeline needs zero maintenance, zero scheduling and uses up zero resources, and with the future bringing cloud integration, your data can be stored safely on offsite storage giving you peace of mind.

The Disaster Recovery option in Timeline creates a backup of your boot drive, in case of system failure Timeline will restore your system to a previously working state along with all of your important data.

Creating backups has never been this simple, 2 or 3 simple steps and you are on your way, Timeline is smart enough to sense when you are using your computer or when it is idle and will take advantage of that fact to speed up backups.

Users can stay up-to-date with the status of their backup via email and very soon through their iPhone or iPad, which also provides a neat way of data archiving.

Timeline comes in three different versions; Free, Home and Professional.

I have only had the free version of Timeline a short while but I am amazed at the product. I previously used NTI SHADOW but had a bad virus on my system and had to do a complete restore of windows. I had no problem at all installing all of my programs apart from NTI SHADOW which I had purchased a few years ago and updated as and when updates were available. I had an awful job trying to re-install NTI SHADOW since I no longer had the original version 3 of the software but did have version 4 Upgrade which I also had paid for. I contacted NTI to be told that they could not assist since I bought the original software over a year ago. I was therefore advised to re-purchase the software.
This prompted me to evaluate your software since I still had my copy of Genie Backup Manager Pro v8.0 which I purchased.
It is early days but so far I am very impressed with the free version. I am retired from work now but maintain 2 charity websites and need a backup facility. I am hoping that the Free version will suffice but if not I will have to approach the chairmen of the charities for funding to upgrade.
Well done Genie, for making this software available.
Kind regards
Richard Kirton

I’ve been using Genie Timeline for about two weeks, and am delighted with the performance and ease of use.
However, I thought I’d pass along a stupid error I made to help others avoid it. PAY ATTENTION TO DRIVE SELECTION WHEN MAKING YOUR DISASTER RECOVERY DISK! I was running normally with the backup, so the external TB LaCie external drive was attached. I decided to make my disaster recovery disk, using a thumb drive, and plugged it in to another USB port. I answered YES to “This will wipe out any files, do you wish to continue” and proceeded to wipe out the 368,000 files on the backup drive! My own fault for not being more attentive, but I suggest you suspend backup and TURN OFF your backup drive before making the disaster recovery disk.
